Fun

That's an original take on a classic gamestyle - avoid and collect. The graphics were prefcet for the game, and the interface was sleek. I like the contrast between the destructured, rugged font and the elegant writing.

It was great how things were attracted to the sun as it got bigger, but it did make the game very hard when half the screen was filled with those ice cubes!

My only suggestion for this game would be to rehaul the instructions screens a bit (especially that "play" text near the final "next" button!")

Also, I found a small glitch; when you pause the game, the sun keeps shrinking!

Overall a pretty sweet game, I'd like to see what new features you could add in the sequel, if you intend on making one. Good luck!

Thanks, Joelasticot (joe?)

I agree that it does get pretty tricky trying to maneuver around all the ice without shrinking down to nothingness in the process. This was just a quick game I made while trying to figure out good ways of taking the "Flash approach" to game design. My first finished AS3 game, so I had to find an easy way of making the game get more and more difficult as it droned on.

Since then, I've been working on my next title, which I just may PM to you for you to check out when I'm done. In this new project I've overhauled about 75% of the original Blobie code, and transformed it into a Game Template to speed up the development time. I've fixed pausing, as well as so many other little things that it would fill up the rest of the page here haha!

Glad you liked this game, and when there is a sequel, I'll be sure to impress!

Great game

I don't review often so oughta make this good

I really like this game because, unlike a lot of flash games out there, it brings a totally new concept, and it was pretty well executed. The game really makes you think before you move. The art was simple but overall efficient. Oh and THANK YOU for checkpoints :p

As much as I like the concept, I think the game could use a lot more polish. There are a few things that bugged me, that you could take in consideration if you rework this (or in a future project) :

- Sometimes, the invisibility bar would overlap some of the obstacles on the ceiling (motion detectors)
- I think the air control is too sharp; you shouldn't be able to move as swiftly while jumping as when you're on the ground (imo)
- WASD support would have been nice, for people who like to keep a hand on the mouse as they play
- Smileys in instructions make the game look a bit... un-professional

These are just tips, take them as you wish!
All in all it's a great game, that I'll most definitely play again (once I forget how the levels go), challenging, creative, fun. I hope to see more games from you in the future. Three thumbs up!

AethosGames responds:

Funny you should mention the invisibility bar... I was trying to think of a better way to dispay it on the screen without it being to intrusive to gameplay. I'll probably have it fade away in the next game, and re-appear when you use it.

controls are going to be fine-tuned for the next game. I've only been making games for seven months, so I'm still a newb at this.

I regret the smiley. Period.

Thanks for the tips, I look at everyones reviews to make the next game better.

Amazing

I remember when I used to post on the Flash BBS, you always seemed to be one of the "l337" coders. Now I see what king of games you can create with that knowledge

It's a really fun game, and it's the first time I see that kind of engine programmed with flash, so I must say I'm really impressed. I liked it, my only complaint is that in level 2 or 3, I had been pushing my rock down a few slopes, and we fell in a hole, but I was ahead of it so it made me restart the level...

Apart from that, really awesome game

Btw, is that AS3?

dELtaluca responds:

:P

yes it was AS3 from Flash 9 public alpha, before CS3 came out.

Are you still working on this?

This is truly great, and to be honest, it motivated me to make flash games a while ago. Are you still making it? Do you still need help with the Actionscript? Because if so, I can help. I'd really like to see this completed.

Leigh responds:

If you mean that well then paint me flattered.

Yes I am working on it. I just added another guy to the project and I think it's finally going to get off the ground, and when it does I think I can promise something great.

Awful.

You obviously don't know Flash enough to make a decent tutorial. The interface was crap, and so were the graphics. Badly explained, your tutorials were not helpful at all.

You tried to draw Flash's interface, why not just take a screenshot instead?

You kept saying "I know mine is not good but...", then why submit? If you know it was not good, why the hell did you leave it this way?

Anyway, before thinking about making another tutorial, learn how to make Flash. And by that, I mean learn more than the basics. And don't create a tutorial about stuff you can't do, like you did with "Easy Game" and "Walking".

Hi-dud responds:

everyone is retarded. I said this is a tutorial for beginners, that meens beginners! By the way, your tutorial is crap. who the hell wants to know how to make a planet? I think like 1 in a million people are actually going to use that... and there arent even 1million people on newgrounds. This is about the basics, the reason it is less-well animated is to not get the newbies hopes up. Didn't you hate it when you were new, and someone made some tutorial, and there like "This is how it should look like", and it doesn't work? Your like, "Thanks for getting my hopes so high! Just to let them fall all that way..." All in all, why did you not like the walking? You must not have seen it all the way through. If you didn't like my walking by the way, you should have seen some retarded thing about some stickman walking. I think this tutorial serves most of the basic things, keeping the audience generalized, instead of some random flash on how to make a planet rotate. That covers most of it. By the way, not everyone has filthy rich parents and live in beverly hills with there butlers giving them a birthday present which is a frickin' ferari. Some people can't afford frickin' camera's, or even flash. I had to make this using the tutorial... Thanks for being mean to the kid who just wanted to fit in.

w00t!

Thanks! Now I have something to do for the new few weeks!

:P just kidding.

liam0 responds:

Glad you enjoyed it, :P

Good

I guess this can help many people get started with flash. However I found an error in the light effect tutorial : the function you use is not Expand Fill but Soften Fill Edges. Apart from that it's great.

GAMECUBICLE responds:

Oops, i see, i made a typo :P lolz, i'll fix it

I liked it

At first it was a bit hard to use but I managed to create some cool figures with it. I hope you'll make a tutorial with everything explained though.

Oh and nice layout by the way.

C360 responds:

Nice I'll definitely do just that. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks

Wow

This Warthog looked exactly like the one in the first game, oh and also the like one in the second and third games. Oh yeah, that's because they're always the same fucking drawing.

Damn, when will you get bored of making such repetitive games? Or why don't you add something worth customizing a Warthog, like a mini game when you can control him?

I won't vote higher than two on these until you add something new and unseen in the previous version.

ps. the layout in the third was prettier than this one's.

PODmedia responds:

Seriously...

I enjoy enjoying enjoyable things.
